Microprocessor-Controlled Communications Terminal

Complete, automatic send/receive of Morse code (CW), Baudot code (RTTY) and ASCII code (RTTY) with the addition of any video monitor for display. The Perfect addition to complement any amateur radio installation.

Below are a few of its outstanding features:

7channel Battery Back-Up Memory

The Theta 9000E has seven keyboard-selectable, non-volatile, random access memory channels each of which can hold 64 characters. Data in these memories is alterable at any time and is retained when power is removed. Messages in these memory channels can be repeated 1 to 9 times via keyboard command. All channels may be daisy-chained for continuous read-out. Channel number in use is indicated on display. Two of these seven memories may subdivided, providing up to 29 memory locations.

 SPECIFICATIONS

bulletWide Range of Transmitting and Receiving Speeds
Cw: 5 to 50 wpm In 10 keyboard-selectable steps. Autotrack on receive.
RTTY: 14 keyboard-selectable speeds with fine up/down speed adjust cover standards speeds of 60, 67, 75, and 100 wpm Baudot code and 110, 150, 200, 300, 600, 1200 and 2400 Baud ASCII code.
bulletVariable CW Weight
Keyboard-selectable weight control from 1:3 to 1:6.
bulletCrystal Controlled AFSK Modulator
For transceivers without direct FSK connections. High stability oscillator provides following outputs in both Baudot code and ASCII code:
High Tone Pairs Shift 170 Hz 425 Hz 850 Hz
  Mark 2125 2125 2125
  Space 2295 2550 2975
Low Tone Pairs Shift 170 Hz 425 Hz 850 Hz
  Mark 1275 1275 1275
  Space 1445 1700 2125

Note: Selection of High/Low tone pairs automatically selects corresponding filter pair in demodulator section.

bulletStatus Display
On screen display of all critical parameters such as speed, mode, input source, and selected functions.
bulletSelf Contained Demodulator
Three-step shift selects either 170 Hz, 425 Hz or 850 Hz shift with manual fine tune control of space channel for odd shifts. High/low tone pair Select. Mark only or space copy capability for selective fading. Internal demodulator suitable for any speed up to 150 Baud.
bulletPrinter Interface for Hard Copy
Centronics-compatible Interface for parallel input printers.
bulletComposite Video Output
Composite video output provides 1.0 Vpk-pk into 75 ohm for any standard video monitor. Drake model 7030 recommended.
bulletRS-232 I/O Interface
Phono jacks provide RS232C connections In and out.
bulletKansas City Standard AFSK Output
KCS tone pair of 2400 Hz mark and 1200 Hz space.
bulletConvenient Keyboard Arrangement
Keyboard layout IS the same as standard typewriter.
bulletLarge Capacity Display Memory
Display memory contains 40 or 80 characters x 24 lines per page. Scrolling is keyboard-selectable, forward and reverse through a total of 14,000 characters.
bulletSplit-Screen
With a keyboard command, the display can be divided In two; the upper half for receive and the lower half for transmit. Messages can be composed while receiving.
bulletBuffer Memory
3120 character keyboard buffer.
bulletWord Wrap-Around
In receive mode, word wrap-around prevents the last word on a line from becoming split in two. Moves whole word to next Iine.
bulletAutomatic Transmit/Receive Switch
Automatic keyboard-operated transmit (KOX) or manual keyboard transmit. Keyboard-selectable.
bulletUnshift on Space
Keyboard-selectable. Reverts to LETTERS case after reception of each space character in Baudot code.
bulletCursor Control
Full cursor control (up / down / left / right) available from keyboard.
bulletLine/Word Mode
Characters can be transmitted in word or line groupings. Keyboard-selectable.
bulletAutomatic CR/LF
While transmitting, CR/LF IS automatically sent every 60, 72, or 80 characters. Keyboard-selectable.
bulletAutomatic Letters Code Insertion
LETTERS code can be transmitted continuously in a pause of transmitting from the keyboard. Commonly called "IDLE" or "DIDDLE".
bulletCw Identification
Keyboard-controlled cw Identification in RTTY modes.
bulletEcho Function
With keyboard Instruction, prerecorded cassette tapes can be read and transmitted.
bulletTest Messages
Two built-in test messages. "RY" and "QBF" are keyboard-selectable.
bulletCw Practice
Theta 9000E reads data from hand key and displays characters.
bulletOscilloscope Outputs
Mark and space channel filter outputs on rear panel. Supplements the tuning LED’s and audio monitor.
bulletAudio Monitor
A built-In audio monitor circuit with automatic transmit/receive switching enables checking of the transmit/receive tones. In the receive mode, it is possible to monitor the output of the mark channel, the space channel, or incoming audio from the agc amplifier prior to the channel filters.
bulletSelective Calling
Activated on reception of user defined "Sel-Call" characters and terminated on receipt of user defined "End of Text" character sequence. Automatic answer-back also available.
bulletLight Pen Graphics
A Iight pen (provided) may be used to create graphic Images which may be transmitted to another Theta 9000E.
bulletWord Processing
Internal firmware contains a complete word processing system. 180 Iines of 72 characters may be entered, edited, stored on a cassette tape recorder, or printed. Supports Insertions, deletions, word search, corrections, and margin justification.
bulletSingle Power Supply
The Theta 9000E requires only 13.6 Vdc @ 1.3 amp. Plugs into 13.6 Vdc accessory jack on PS7 or PS75 power supplies.
bulletEffective Packaging for RFI Protection
