bullet

The Drake IN-7 Inverter provides isolation between the ship's mains and the output voltage lines.

bullet

The unit is transistorized DC to DC inverter supplying a DC output approximately equal to the input voltage over an input of 20 to 30 volts with a load of 2.5 amperes.

bullet

The inverter is turned on by shorting the OFF-ON contacts on the terminal strip at the end of the unit.

bullet

An external switch may be used for this function and mounted on the panel of the unit being supplied with power.

  1. Remove the 2 ohm, 15 watt power resistor and its mounting bracket from the left side chassis wall by removing two screws, lockwashers and nuts securing the bracket. Unsolder one resistor lead from the rear panel switch. (The switch need not be removed from the radio.)

  2. Unsolder the green wire from the terminal strip at the resistor lead. Remove the terminal strip from the radio by removing one screw, lockwasher and nut securing the strip.

  3. Drill (4) four .250 dia. IN-7 assembly mounting holes in the left side chassis wall as per enclosed pictorial entitled: "TEMPLATE - IN-7 MOUNTING".

  4. Install the IN-7 assembly using l/4-20 hardware as shown in enclosed pictorial entitled: "HARDWARE - IN-7 MOUNTING".

  5. Connect wires to the IN-7 as follows:

    1. Unsolder the Orange wire from the rear panel switch terminal and solder it to the P.C. board post marked "(+) INPUT".

    2. Unsolder the Blue wire from the rear panel ground lug and solder it to the P.C. board post marked "(-) INPUT".

    3. Solder the Green wire to the P.C. board post marked "+24V OUT'.
